Salicylic acid is oil-soluble, so it penetrates into the pore and dissolves the mixture of sebum and dead skin that causes blackheads and congestion. It also has anti-inflammatory properties that calm active breakouts.

Yes, but sparingly and only where needed. Use it on affected areas rather than the whole face, at a lower frequency, and always follow with a rich moisturiser.

In a cleanser, daily is fine. As a leave-on treatment, two to four times weekly. Using multiple salicylic products in one routine commonly causes over-drying, which triggers more oil production and worsens congestion.
